How can printing at NC State be more intuitive and efficient?
What: Over North Carolina State University North Carolina State University is a public research university in Raleigh, North Carolina. NC State has an enrollment of more than 35,000 students. Everyone who is involved with North Carolina State University uses the printing systems. This includes students and faculty.


The problem: The current wolf print website is difficult to navigate  through. This is a problem due to the current layout of the system, as well as the hierarchy on each page. The current color scheme, logos, and icons do not match the brand identity of the company.
Heuristic Markup: How to Print
Through examining the current printing process, the main issues were: Hierarchy, color scheme, layout, overabundance of  text, consistency, no context, bad user feedback.
Content Exploration
Through examining the current printing process, we were able to discover the main issues with the look and feel of the current wolfprint application.They were. the hierarchy, inconsistent, too much negative space, and quick links.
Persona
Daniel
NC State undergraduate studenet, age 18

Scenario:
Daniel is new to NC State and has an english paper due in an hour. He needs to print from his laptop because all the computers are taken in the english building.

Motivations:
He needs to print from his laptop because all the computers are taken in the english building.

Frustrations:
Asking for help, disorganization, nonintuitive.

Design Criteria and Opportunities
Create a new experience printing off of the wolf print website that gives better user feedback.  This experience should make printing more efficient to print off of a personal computer as well as finding  the closest printer.
Brand Voice
NC State’s brand based off of four traits: courageous, innovative, intellectual, purposeful.
Brand Colors
The color scheme has to include the three brand colors of NC State: Wolfpack Red, White, and Black.
Logo & Type
NC State’s primary typeface is Univers. , secondary typeface is Glypha, the logo should be used on all core communications.
Content & Style
In content and style, NC State imagery is big, bold and impactful.
Market Review Inspo
I looked at most common printing applications, such as from the desktop: Apple & Windows, and online: Google & Paper cut.
Redeveloping the System Architecture
We broke up the system architecture and interactions onto note cards to organize and optimize the workflow.
Task Flow
This is a summarized task flow from ideating that illustrates a user printing using Wolfprint.
Hierarchy
Sketched out different layouts for each step to have consistency in the hierarchy for each action item.
Paper Prototype
Created a quick mock-up of what the interface interaction could look like.
